Speed and driver impairment ruled out in crash that killed a65-year-old pedestrian

A 76-year-old Hamilton man was behind the wheel of the truck involved in the crash. Police say he stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Hamilton police say speed and driver impairment have been ruled out as factors in acrash involving a dump truck and a mobility scooter that killed a65-year-old pedestrian.

The pedestrian was struck around 10 a.m. Thursday when the truck turned through the intersection of Barton Street East and Wellington Street North, according to investigators.

The victim was transported to hospital where police say he died of his injuries.

A 76-year-old Hamilton man was behind the wheel of the truck involved in the crash. Police say he stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact detectives or Crime Stoppers.
