Man allegedly stabbed to death at downtown Hamilton apartment

Hamilton police say a man was allegedly stabbed to death Saturday night at an apartment downtown. The death marks the city's fourth homicide of the year.

Hamilton police say one man is dead and another arrested after astabbing Saturday night at a downtown apartment.

Police say shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday, they responded to a disturbance at an apartment located at 15 Lamoreaux Street.

Once police got there, they say they found a man who was seriously injured.

Along with police, paramedics and the fire department attempted to revive the man. Police say the man was pronounced dead on scene.

The man appeared to have been stabbed, according to police.A scheduledautopsy Sunday will confirm the cause of death.

Police say a 45-year-old man was quickly arrested on scene, and is expected to be charged with second-degree murder Sunday at the John Sopinka Courthouse in Hamilton.

According to police, the name of the victim has not yet been confirmed and police are working on notifying the man's next of kin.

Police say they will be canvassing the area to locate any possible witnesses and will remain on scene while detectives investigate.
