Early morning Boxing Day stabbing leaves man in snowbank

Hamilton police are currently investigating a stabbing that took place in the area of Robinson and MacNab Street early Tuesday morning. Police say a man was found in a snowbank with three stab wounds to his back.

A man with three stab wounds to his back, lying on the ground and calling for help was foundearly Tuesday morning in the area of Robinson and MacNab Street.

Hamilton police say the man was asking citizens in the area for money.

According to police,two witnesses saythey had turned the man away, but one witness felt bad and later went back to check on him a short time later.

At the same time a 911 call was made from a third witness saying that a male was lying on the ground and calling for help.

Police say the incident happened between 12:30 and 1:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The man was found in a snowbank with three stab wounds to his back.

Paramedics transported the man to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the three witnesses were located and spoken to by police.

According to police, the suspect is unknown and only described as a white male.

Police are continuing to investigate.
