Hamilton couple arrested after crashing stolen U-Haul truck: police

The collision happened after the truck reversed through an alley and into the car, staying on scene for a moment, before being driven away, according to police,who reviewed security video of the crash.

The 22-year-old woman is also facing drug charges after police found methamphetamine

A Hamilton couple has been arrested after police say they stole a U-Haul truck and crashed it into a parked car.

Officers were called to a failure to remain crash involving the truck near the corner of Robert Street and Victoria Avenue North around 8:30 p.m. Monday.

The collision happened after the truck reversed through an alley and into the car, staying on scene for a moment, before being driven away, according to policewho reviewed security video of the crash.

Investigators spotted a truck matching the description of thevehicle, which had previously been reported stolen, near the intersection of Wilson Street and Wellington Street North around 10 p.m.

Police pulled the vehicle over and found a man and woman inside. Both were arrested and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.

Officers also searched both suspects and found the woman was carrying drug paraphernalia and methamphetaime.

A 20-year-old Hamilton man is charged with failure to stop after an accident and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

The 22-year-old woman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and three counts of failing to comply with probation.
