Pickup truck driver charged after going 177km/h on the Red Hill: police

Hamilton police say a 29-year-old man was caught going 87 km/hr over the speed limit along the Red Hill Parkway early Saturday morning.

A 29-year-old Hamilton man has been charged with stunt driving after police say they caught him,Saturday morning, going 87 km/hr over the speed limit on the Red Hill Valley Parkway.

Police say shortly before 4 a.m. on Saturday, they noticed a white Dodge Ram pickup truck driving fast northbound on the Parkway.

Police say they recordedthe truck going 177km/hr in a 90km/hr zone.

"Hamilton police continue to focus efforts on speed enforcement in an order to make our streets safer for all," read a statement from police. "A zero tolerance approach has been taken by Hamilton Police for this offence."

Along with the stunt driving charge, the man's car has been impounded for a week and his licence has been suspended for a week as well.

The man is scheduled for a court appearance April 25.
