Its that time of the week again CBC Hamilton reporter Adam Carter is back with his three picks for new Ontario music that you need to listen to this week.

Adam is on the air each week on CBC Radio for In the Key of C, hosted by Craig Norris. Hell choose three Ontario bands or artists that are releasing new music for your listening pleasure.

You can hear Adam during the show every Saturday evening at 5 p.m. on CBC Radio. In the Key of C can be heard across the province, except for the GTA. Hamilton listeners can hear this segment in the audio player above.

Here are this weeks picks:

Roly Platt: Mad River

First up this week is blues harmonica virtuoso Roly Platt with Mad River. Its a song off his debut album called Inside Out.

This debut is pretty notable, considering it was 56 years in the making. Platt has been around for decades, and played with the likes of rockabilly legend Ronnie Hawkins and Blood, Sweat & Tears frontman David Clayton-Thomas.

Platt even wrote music for the classic Berenstain Bears cartoon and played on Sharon, Lois and Brams double-platinum record Smorgasboard.

But aside from the session playing on children's favourites, Platt is ridiculously talented, and it really shines through on the clip we're playing this week. You can hear it in the radio broadcast in the player above and watch him sit in on a live recording of Albert King's Born Under a Bad Sign in this YouTube clip.

ClassX: Only Human

Next up is Windsors ClassX with Only Human.

This is off their latest record called Time Well Wasted.

You can tell that these guys are heavily influenced by European bands like The Hives. This song is catchy, crisp, and super upbeat.

Anyone who is a fan of contemporary rock from across the pond would find a lot to like here.

Megan Landry: Nosebleeds

This week we're leaving you with a great new track from Ottawas Megan Landry. This is a brand new song of hers called Nosebleeds.

We're hesitant to compare Landry to teen pop phenom Lorde, seeing as that carries a lot of weight but it's difficult not to. Landry is just 18, talented beyond her age, and totally has a similar vibe as her New Zeland-based compatriot.

Landry doesnt quite have the lyrical subtlety that Lorde has, but she has a great, throaty voice. She also has a similar kind of unapologetic darkness about her music.

Landry even produces all of her own music videos, and theyre very well done. You can watch the video for Wallpaper in the YouTube player above, and listen to Nosebleeds in its entirety in the radio segment at the top of this page.
