Hamilton

5 more TV shows being filmed in Hamilton this year

We told you last weekend about five of the biggest movie and TV projects filming in the city this year. But they arent the only productions setting up shop in Hamilton. So in the spirit of celebrating cinematic goodness, here are five more projects filming here this year.

Murdoch Mysteries, Dark Matter, The Good Witch and more all filming here

This year Hamilton will serve as a playground for The Joker, hordes of vampires, and one of the most famous cannibals of all time.

We told you last weekend about five of the biggest movie and TV projects filming in the city this year. But they aren't the only productions setting up shop in Hamilton.

So in the spirit of celebrating cinematic goodness, here are five more projects filming here this year.

Dark Matter

Hamilton has no trouble attracting producers on comic book fare (see X-Men, The Hulk and Suicide Squad), and Dark Matter is no different.

The upcoming Syfy show is based on the Dark Horse comic series of the same name. Though it might not carry the same mainstream clout as bigger Marvel of DC properties, the premise is an interesting one.

The show centres on a group of people who wake up on a spacecraft with no memories of who they are and how they got there.

The series' trailer doesn't exactly scream greatness, but Stargate SG-1's Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie do have a pretty decent track record, so we're willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

The show debuts on June 12.

Murdoch Mysteries

Murdoch Mysteries has been plugging along on CBC ever since we picked it up in season six. The show was just renewed for its ninth season.

The 19th century show follows Detective William Murdoch of the Toronto constabulary as he solves crimes, plays inventor for period CSI-esque tools and runs into historical figures like H.G Wells and Nikola Tesla.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper even had a cameo as a police officer in the show's fourth season.

Reign

Reign is an American show about France so it only makes sense it would be filmed in Canada, right?

The show follows Mary, Queen of Scots in her early years living in France but with a lot of "historical liberties." It's more entertainment than history book if you find teen dramas entertaining, that is.

The CW show was renewed for a third season this year.

Fear Thy Neighbour

Fear ThyNeighbour is a reality show chronicling feuds between next-door neighbours that escalate to bizarre and sometimes tragic circumstances.

Though subjects of the show are usually based in the U.S., some of the recreation shots with actors are filmed here, Unsolved Mysteries style.

The Good Witch

The Good Witch is a TV series based on a made-for-TV movie, which gives ita bit of anInception-like loop.

The Hallmark channel show follows the exploits of Cassie Nightingale, the titular good witch of Middleton and her teenage daughter.

So far, there have been no flying monkeys or tin man. Sorry L. Frank Baum fans.
