A Hamilton man is facing several charges after a crash between a bike and a car in the lower city Sunday evening.

The collision happened around 4:50 p.m. at the intersection of Robert Street and Catharine Street North, police say.

A man who was riding a bike didn't stop at a stop sign and was struck by a vehicle that had the right of way, police say.

While trying to identify the man on the bike, "officers located a number of Fentanyl patches and a quantity of cash that belonged to the cyclist," a police news release reads.

The cyclist, who was being treated in hospital, was arrested as soon as he was released.

A 26-year-old Hamilton man was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, carrying proceeds of crime under $5,000, six counts of breach of probation and disobeying a stop sign.
