Fatal crash on the QEW in Burlington, SIU called in

Fort Erie-bound lanes of the QEW at Walkers Line in Burlington have reopened after an early morning fatal crash.

Provincial police say a car drove into the rear of a tractor-trailer at about 2:15 a.m. near Walkers Line. The man driving the car, who was alone in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time of the crash, the OPP was on the scene assisting with maintenance operations in the area. The OPP says the Special Investigations Unit has been notified.

There is no information yet about the victim. The SIU investigates all reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.

All lanes are closed. There is no word yet on when they will open.
