Protesters marched and shouted their dissent over conflicts in Syria and Iran on the steps of the Federal Building in Hamilton Saturday afternoon.

It was organized by the Hamilton Coalition to Stop the War. "We were trying to make a point in conjunction with demonstrations across Canada," said organization treasurer Ken Stone.

About 50 people showed up to protest, including the Independent Jewish Voices of Hamilton, the McMaster Muslims for Peace and Justice, Cupe local 3906 and the Palestinian Association of Hamilton.

"We had people from a lot of constituent groups," Stone said.

Speakers included reverend Diane Blanchard of the United Church and U.S war resister Bill Thompson.

"People are really worried," Stone said. "They're upset about the nature of these kinds of wars."
