Hamilton roads 'so far so good', police say

Despite this morning's rough weather conditions, Hamilton Police are reporting no collisions on city streets.

Despite this morning's rough weather conditions, Hamilton Police are reporting no collisions on city streets.

"So far so good," said police spokesperson Catherine Martin. "We currently don't have any collisions on the board."

Martin said despite the lack of collisions, drivers should still be cautious while out on the roads. "We want people to get their winter driving skills in gear."

Martin said Hamilton police responded to 26 collisions between 5pm last night and 5am this morning.

While all of the collisions were minor in nature, she said it's important to remember the basics when driving in snow.

She said drivers need to remember to adjust how closely they follow other drivers, as well as being mindful of their speed, especially given that it's been a while since Hamilton last experienced a substantial snowfall.

"If you're heading out today, give yourself lots of time to get to your destination," she said.
