Monday was sign day the day candidates can officially post election signs and volunteers stayed up past midnight and worked until the crack of dawn to plaster the area with signs.

According to the city's sign bylaw, election signs can't be posted until 28 days before the election, which in this case is Sept. 29. The municipal election is Oct. 27.

Candidates took to Twitter to post photos of their late-night signs. Ward 1 candidate AidanJohnson referred to his volunteersas the "early morning sign patrol," and Ward 3 candidate Matthew Green used the Twitter hashtag#SignNinjas.
