Man caught uploading child porn into email

A Hamilton man is facing child pornography charges after he was found uploading an illicit image of a child to his email account, police say.

Local police began investigating after the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre alerted them about a man who uploaded the picture to his email account in April.

The computer was identified as being from a Hamilton address, police say.

Then on Tuesday, police executed a search warrant downtown on Main Street East. A man inside was arrested.

"Further investigation revealed that the accused had been convicted of similar charges in another country," a police news release reads.

A 57-year-old man is now facing child pornography charges.
