Man charged with driving more than 180 km/h on Linc

Police have charged a Hamilton man with stunt driving after they spotted a vehicle doing 180 km/h on the Lincoln Alexander Parkway.

Police say an officer was doing traffic enforcement near the Upper James Street overpass just after 1 a.m. Fridaywhen he spotted the vehicle heading eastbound.

The officer activated the emergency lights and stopped the vehicle.

Police seized a 22-year-old man's licence and towed his vehicle, which is impounded for seven days.

Stunt driving is a common occurrence in Hamilton this year. Here are some other recent cases:

• Police charged a 77-year-old woman in Flamborough in May.
• Also, in May, police charged a driver doing 100 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
• Again in May, police charged someone with driving 119 km/h on Main Street.
• In late April, police charged someone with driving more than 140 km/h on the Red Hill Valley Parkway.Earlier in April, someone was charged with driving 80 km/h over the speed limit on the highway. In March, there was another Red Hill charge.
