Nathan Cirillo visitation: what you need to know

Following a private visitation for Cpl. Nathan Cirillo on Sunday, a public visitation is scheduled on Monday for the Hamilton reservist killed in last week's shooting incident in Ottawa.

The 24-year-old, from the Argylls and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada regiment, was shot and killed while standing guard at the National War Memorial at Parliament Hill on Wednesday.

Family members and dignitaries, including Ontario's lieutenant governor, said goodbyes to Cirillo at the private visitation Sunday night. Here are the details of the public visitation if you plan to pay respects to the young soldier.

9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, Oct. 26, 2014.

What to expect

Staff at the funeral home and Hamilton police will be directing traffic and parking in the area.A book of condolences is available outside the funeral home for visitors to sign.

Other ways to pay tributes

If you can't make it to the visitation on Monday, there are other ways to pay respects to the fallen soldier.Books of condolences are available for signing in several locations across the country:

• A book of condolences is available at Hamilton City Hall on Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. It is located on the first floor of the building at 71 Main St. W.
• A book of remembrance is available at Ottawa City Hall in Jean Pigott Place.
• A book of condolences is also available in the main lobby in the Ontario Legislature, after Paul Miller, MPP for Hamilton East-Stoney Creek, received unanimous consent to place the book in the legislative building.

Donations to the trust fund named Marcus Cirillo Trust would be appreciated, the family said in anobituary.

A regimental funeral for Cirillo is scheduled on Tuesday, followed by a regimental burial in the Field of Honour at Woodland Cemetery in Hamilton.
