Stanley Tick appointed to Hamilton Police Services Board

Hamilton lawyer and mediator Stanley Tick has been appointed by the Ontario government to the Hamilton Police Services Board.

Tick is the former chair of St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation, where he currently serves as a member. He is also the former vice-president of the Canadian Jewish Congress, Ontario Region.

Tick is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, the Advocates' Society and the Hamilton Chamber of Commerceas well.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from McMaster University and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Osgoode Hall Law School.

A civilian body governing the Hamilton Police Service, the board is responsible for overseeing the budget and the actions of the police chief.

The seven-member board is comprised of three city councillors, three members appointed by the provincial government, as well as one citizen appointed by the city council.

Tick is one of the three provincial appointees. He joins Madeleine Levy and Irene Stayshyn.

His two-year tenure starts on Nov. 5, 2014.
