Teen in Mercedes caught driving 101 km over speed limit: police

An 18-year-old has been charged with stunt driving after police say they spotted him driving more than 100 kilometres over the speed limit.

An 18-year-old has been charged with stunt driving after police say they spotted him driving more than 100kilometres over the speed limit.

Just after 2 p.m. on Sunday, Hamilton police were doing speed enforcement around Paramount Drive and Butternut Court.

It was a normal flow of traffic, police say, on a street where the limit is40 kilometres per hour. Then the officer saw a vehicle speed past.

The officer clocked a2009 C34 Mercedes at 141kilometres per hour, police say. That's more thanthree times the posted limit.

Police impounded the vehicle for seven days after it was towed away.

The driver's licence was suspended. He will appear in court on charges of stunt driving and speeding.
