Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Hamilton Tuesday.

The agency says to expect daytime temperatures up to 30C.

The heat is expected to continuethrough Wednesday.

Environment Canada says "A hot and very humid airmass remains in place. Maximum daytime temperatures near 31 degrees are generally expected through Wednesday with humidex values near or above 40. Overnight minimum temperatures will likely remain near 20 degrees providing little relief from the heat."

The weather agency "Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible each day which could prevent maximum daytime highs from reaching 31 degrees. However, maximum daily humidex values are still expected to be near 40."

The hot spell should end after a cold front moves in on Wednesday.

The agency says risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty, Environment Canada says, and stay in a cool place and never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
