A Hamilton man was sent to hospital Wednesday night after a hit and run on the Red Hill Valley Parkway.

Around 10 p.m., a 67-year-old man was driving northbound on the RHVP when he pulled his car over on the right shoulder between Queenston Road and Barton Street.

The man got out of his car and was struck by an oncoming vehicle, police say. The vehicle did stop and police don't yet know why he left his vehicle.

Police and ambulance crews arrived around 10:20 p.m. and found the man lying bleeding in the road with a head injury.

He was taken to Hamilton General Hospital with non-life threatening head injuries. Police are continuing to investigate.
