Hamilton police have released security camera video of the car investigators say was used as a getaway vehicle after the brazen daytime shooting of notorious mobster Angelo Musitano.

Musitano, 39, was gunned down as he pulled into the driveway of his home in Waterdown last Tuesday afternoon.

Police released security camera video of the caron Monday. They say it's a four-door, 2006 Ford Fusion with rusty wheel rims.

The car was recovered on Sunday evening, police say, in the area of Fenton Drive and Braeheid Avenue in Waterdown.

"It is believed the culprit then entered and fled in a second vehicle at this location," a police news release reads. The location is only about 450 meters away from Musitano'sChesapeake Drive home.

Detectives are now asking anyone who may have seen this car around the Waterdown area on May 2 and the week leading up to the shooting to contact them. They are also asking people in the area to review their security camera footage for any possible leads.

The suspect is described as a white man with stocky/athletic build, wearing a black toque, black jacket, grey pants and black shoes.

Musitano's father was Domenic Musitano, a well-known Mafia boss in the city.

Police say the shooting victim had done jail time in connection to three murders, but that Musitano had been mostly low-key since getting out of jail in 2007.

Angelo, with his brother Pat, were charged with first-degree murder in the 1997 shooting of Hamilton crime boss Johnny Papalia and one of his lieutenants, Carmen Barillaro.

They reached a deal with the Crown and pleaded guilty to a conspiracy to commit murder charge in the death of Barillaro. The pair were sentenced to 10 years in jail.

Police say the vehicle was ditched a short distance away from Chesapeake Drive, where the shooting took place. (Google maps)
