Former Hamilton Bulldogs Subban, Price make Olympic hockey team

Former Hamilton Bulldogs PK Subban and Carey Price will represent Canada at the Sochi Olymic hockey tournament.

The announcement was made just after 11 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Carey Price is one of three goalies selected. He's joined by Mike Smith of the Phoenix Coyotes and Roberto Luongo of the Vancouver Canucks.

Despite winning the Norris Trophy given to the leagues best defenceman last year, experts suggested Subban was not a certainty to make the team headed for Sochi, Russia.

Subban received some high-profile support. Both Wayne Gretzky and Hockey Night in Canadas Don Cherry voiced their support. Subban was a Bulldog during the 2009-10 season then was called up to the Montreal Canadiens for two playoff games. He was third in team scoring as a 20-year-old rookie with 53 points in 77 games.

Price was a big part of the AHL Championship Bulldogs team in 2006-07. He only played two regular season games before leading the team to the Calder Cup following the end of his junior hockey career.
