NHL hopeful from Hamilton wakes up drunk in stranger's home

NHL prospect Scott Timmins caused a rude awakening early Monday when he was arrested after allegedly waking up drunk in a stranger's house in San Antonio, Texas.

According to a report from San Antonio Police, the incident started when a woman woke up to the sound of her dogs barking. When she went to investigate, she found a stranger on her couchwho happened to be theHamilton-bornTimmins, a forward for the AHL's San Antonio Rampage.

She asked, "Who are you?" to which Timmins allegedly replied, "Who are you?"

When the woman asked him what he was doing in her house, he responded, "Don't worry about that," police say.

The woman then woke up her three children, fled the home and called police. When officers arrived, Timmins was once again asleep on the couch. According to the police report, when officers roused him, he looked at them "with a blank stare as if not to know what was going on."

In the report, officersallege Timmins was "highly intoxicated," unable to stand and smelling of alcohol. At one point, he allegedly told an officer, "I just want to make sure you got me because I can't walk and don't want to fall," the report reads.

According to police, Timmins had been drinking at a bar called the Hangar hours before, but didn't know how he got into the woman's home. He also said he meant her no harm.

The 23-year-old centre was charged with criminal trespassing and released on bail on Monday. Local television station KENS 5 interviewed the woman's husband,who said he told Timmins: "You're lucky I wasn't here, because I would've put a bullet between your eyes."

Timmins played 19 games with the Florida Panthers in the 2010-2011 season. He registered one goal andeight penalty minutes.

In 70 games with the Rampage this season, Timmins has scored 11 goals and has 16 assists alongside 34 penalty minutes. A request for comment from the team was not immediately returned.

Timmins was selected in the sixth round of the 2009 draft by Florida. He played junior hockey with Kitchener and Windsor, winning a Memorial Cup with the Spitfires in 2009 and 2010.
