Burlington's Mark Oldershaw will be providing CBC Hamilton with exclusive updates on his training and preparation for the Pan Am games as part of CBC's nationwide #ourathletes program.

The Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games start July 10, and with 10,000 participants from around the world, we'll be focusing on Oldershaw.

An Olympic medalist in sprint canoeing, Oldershaw trains out of the Burloak Canoe Club with former teammate Adam van Koeverden.Oldershaw, 32, is a third-generation Olympic canoer, following his father Scott, whocoaches Mark at the Burloak Canoe Club, and his grandfather Bert.

Mark won bronze in the C-1 1,000 m canoeing event at the 2012 games in London. This accomplishment came after the removal of a tumour in his rowing hand, which forced him to miss out on the 2004 Summer Olympics.

We'll be following Mark's journey here for the next month as he looks to build on the success he had in London.

You can keep up to date as we post Mark's tweets and publish more stories about training, his hobbies, passions and his experience before and during the Pan Am Games.
