Linc ramps closed at Wentworth Street starting Monday, and other upcoming road closures

City crews will be closing the Lincoln Alexander Parkways on- and off-ramps at Upper Wentworth Street for maintenance work between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., starting Oct. 28. The city has reported several coming road closures between now and the end of the year.

If you commute along Hamilton's Upper Wentworth Street at night, take note.

City crews will be closing the Lincoln Alexander Parkway's on- and off-ramps at Upper Wentworth Street for maintenance between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., starting Oct. 28. According to a city news release, the work will take four consecutive days, weather permitting.

Work will include re-paving Upper Wentworth Streetovernight and installing sidewalks and curbs during the day.

Traffic on the road will be reduced to one lane in each direction at night. City buses will run along their regular routes, but riders should expect delays, the city says.

"Motorists are advised to take alternate routes to avoid potential traffic delays," the city said.

The city lists a number of other upcoming closures including:

  • The southbound lane on Victoria Avenue S.will be closed between Charlton Avenue E.,and Young Street from Oct. 24 to Nov. 1 for curb changes.

  • King Street's southern leg betweenHughsonand James streets will be closed on Oct. 25 between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m., for a Halloween event at Gore Park.

  • James Street S., will be closed between Main Street and King Street from 9 p.m. on Oct. 25 to 2 p.m., and again the next day for repaving. On Oct. 27, there will be lane restrictions starting at 9 p.m., and continuing through the night for painting.

  • From Oct. 28 through Dec. 1, the city will close Wentworth Street between King and Wilson Streets for water main installation, road resurfacing and painting. The city says this work is in advance of LRT construction, and that Cathedral High School will still be accessible from Wilson Street.

  • The city will also close Garner Road West, both ways between Hamilton and Panabaker drives for one week beginning Oct. 28. There will still be local access for residents who live between Shaver Road and Hamilton Drive, and from Panabaker Drive and Fiddlers Green Road.
