Police searching for suspect after partially blind and deaf man robbed of jewelry

Investigators say the man was walking intoan apartment building on Melvin Avenue just after 5:30 p.m. when another man came up behind him, pushed him through the door and stole his jewelry.

A witness reported seeing the suspect with a small knife, according to investigators

Hamilton police are searching for a suspect after apartially deaf and blind man was robbed Sunday.

Investigators say the man was walking intoan apartment building on Melvin Avenue just after 5:30 p.m. when another man came up behind him, pushed him through the door and stole his jewelry.

A witness reported seeing the suspect with a small knife, say police, though the victim wasn't physically injured.

The suspect was last seen near Sumach Street and Melvin Avenue.

He's described as a white man between 30 and 40 years old who is about 5' 10" tall with a small build, goatee and mustache.

The man was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and light-coloured pants and may have covered his face with a mask or bandana, according to police.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.
