A man in his 20s is recovering from injuries after tumbling into Webster's Falls.

On Mondayat 8:40 p.m., Hamilton firefighters received a call about a man who had fallen into the gorge at the conservation area.

Fire spokesperson, Claudio Mostacci, said the man had to be strapped down in a basket and then lifted out by a rope rescue. After he was hauled to the top of the falls, he was handed over to paramedics with unknown injuries.

Three other people who were with the injured man also had to be lifted out from Webster's Falls with "bumblebee vests," or specialized harnesses, he said. They weren't injured, but it was dark out and Mostacci said it would have been difficult to walk back out.

"To allow them to hike out at the time would have been dangerous," he said.
