St. AnnCatholic Elementary School in Hamilton becomes 3rd school outbreak in 2 days

St. AnnCatholic Elementary School onSaint Ann Street inHamilton has become the city's third school outbreak site in two days.

Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board (HWCDSB) saystwo staff tested positive for the virus Thursday. They were both last in school on Feb. 12.

Marnie Jadon, HWCDSB spokesperson, said31 students and 14 staff are self-isolating, and two classes have closed. The school will remain open and the board may deploytargeted testing clinics at the school.

There were also cases of COVID-19 at St. Mark Catholic Elementary School, Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary School, St. Joachim Catholic Elementary SchoolandSt. AnnCatholic Elementary School in Ancaster, but none of them had close contacts in the school community, according to HWCDSB.

Hamilton's public school board said onestudent each atDundas Valley Secondary School andGreensville Elementary School have COVID-19, but those students had no close contacts in the school community.
