A 94-year-old Flamborough man is facing attempted murder and assault charges after a machete attack in Carlisle Wednesday evening.

2 people injured and taken to hospital, police say

A 94-year-old Flamborough man is facing attempted murder and assault charges after a machete attack in Carlisle Wednesday evening.

Emergency crews were first called to Progreston Road around 6 p.m. for reports that a man was attacking three other people inside with a machete.

One person wasn't injured, while two otherswere taken to hospital to get care for their injuries.

"The injuries reported to police as non-life-threatening injuries and both are expected to survive," a police news release reads.

A 94-year-old man was charged with attempted murder and two counts of assault with a weapon.

Police Const. Steve Welton told CBC News that a dispute between the people in the home "escalated" to the "use of the machete."

Weltonsaid the man and the people in the home did know each other, but he wouldn't comment on how the were connected.

"The man is now before the courts to answer to the charges and police have opposed his release," the news release reads.
