'Significant' snowfall up to 20 cm headed for Hamilton, warns Environment Canada

Environment Canada is warning Hamilton to brace for a "significant" snowfallMondaythat could dump up to 20 cm on the region.

The snowfall warning issued around 4:30 a.m. says 15 to 20 cm is expected to fall on the city and surrounding area starting in the morning or early afternoon and continuing into the night.

Drivers are told to expect a"significant impact" on their commute home tonight and when they head back to work Tuesday.

"Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions," reads the warning."Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow."

The weather agency says the snowfall will be the result of an Alberta Clipper that will sweep through the area. Moisture from Lake Ontario means locations nearthe shorelinewill see theheaviest snowfall.
