Outbreak at spin studio SPINCO leads to at least 10 more COVID-19 cases, 24 in total
24 people are linked to the outbreak at thefull-body spin studio on James Street North
At least 10 more people have contracted COVID-19 from the outbreak at Hamilton cycle fitness studio SPINCO.
The new number of infections fromthefull-body spin studio on James Street Northwas released by the city on Friday afternoon.
Public health has also identified roughly 100 memberswho may have been exposed to the virus.
"We are very concerned by the number of cases that have resulted from this outbreak," Hamilton Public Health Services spokespersonJacqueline Durlov said.
The total number of people linked to the outbreak is 24, which includes threesecondary cases revealed on Thursday.
Thosesecondary cases mean someone who was at SPINCO went home and infected people they live with. Two households are involved.
There are no new secondary cases as of Friday afternoon.
Public health said SPINCO has followed all of the COVID-19 protocols but said spin class is a higher risk activity because it could requiremore deep breaths.
