Teen in 'critical condition' after fall at Webster Falls

A teenager was critically injured, Hamilton paramedics say,after falling roughly 12 metres on Friday during a visit to Webster Falls.

A teenager was critically injured, Hamilton paramedics say,after falling roughly 12 metres on Friday during a visit to Webster Falls.

Assistant Deputy Fire Chief Steve Welton said the department was called to the Flamborough site around 5 p.m. and carried out a rope rescue after locating the teen.

The victimwas liftedback to the top of the falls where he was treated by paramedics.

The 17 year-old was transported to hospitalin"critical condition with multi-system trauma," according toEMSsuperintendentDave Thompson.

The city has been trying for years to stop people from falling atits increasingly popular waterfalls.

Webster Falls, which is part of the Hamilton Conservation Authority (HCA) system, is described by the HCA asa 22-metre "classical curtain waterfall."
