4-year-old seriously hurt after being struck by pick-up truck: police

A 4-year-old boy was hit by a pickup truck on Monday evening at Sherman Avenue and Clinton Street.

The child is in the hospital with serious, non life-threatening injuries

Hamilton police say afour-year-old child hasseriousinjuriesafter being hit by a pick-up truck Monday evening.

Police say officers and paramedicsresponded to a callat roughly5:30 p.m., about a collision atthe intersection of Sherman Avenue and Clinton Street.

"A male driver was northbound on Sherman Avenue turning right onto Clinton Street when a four-year-old boy darted from the sidewalk and was struck as the vehicle passed," read a media release.

Police say the child was taken to a local pediatric hospital where he is now in serious, but non-life threateningcondition.

Officerssay speed andimpairment have been ruled out as factors in the collision.
