Police gun violence task force makes sweeping west-end drug bust

A new police task force aimed at curbing gun violence made a sweeping west-end drug bust this week.

A new police task force aimed at curbing gun violence made a sweeping west-end drug bust this week.

Hamilton police say theyseized fentanyl, heroin and several guns and ammo as part of a newly formed Make Safe task force. It happened when officers useda search warrant on a home on Wednesday, police say.

In the raid, police found blue meth, meth, fentanyl, and "popcorn," which is a mix of heroin and fentanyl.

Police say they also seized three stun guns, a pellet gun revolver modified to fire 22-calibre ammunition, and a holster.

They also seized more than $800, several scales, a money counter and other items police say are related to drug trafficking.

A 29-year-old Hamilton man faces a litany of charges, including possession of fentanyl, meth and heroin for the purpose of trafficking, flight from police, three charges related to possession of a firearm, three charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and four counts of driving while disqualified.

A 30-year-old Burlington woman is charged with possession of meth, fentanyl and heroin for the purpose of trafficking, three firearm-related charges, three prohibited weapon-related charges, and possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000.
