22 new volunteers prepare to brave elements with Search and Rescue

For a Search and Rescue volunteer, survival skills have to be second nature. This week, over 20 volunteers will undergo training for the physically and mentally demanding job. We'll hear all about it.

To be part of search and rescue, survival skills have to be second nature. A helicopter can drop you off, in the middle of vast wilderness, and not retrieve you for 24 hours. You have to be mentally and physically prepared for anything. And it's all volunteer.

So who are these dedicated people who answer the call?Right now, the Kamloops Search and Rescue outfit is training 22 new members.

Alan Hobler is the manager. He too is a volunteer and he joined usin studio.We were also joined by one of the brand new recruits, Gavin Keusch.
