Councillor disappointed by Ajax funding decision

No more money. The company behind the proposed Ajax mine says it will not be providing the additional $200,000 city council asked for earlier this month. The funds were to help pay for extra costs associated with the independent review of the project.

Ajax will not be paying the city of Kamloops any more money to complete an independent review of the proposed Ajax mine.

That's the message that will be presented city council tomorrow in a letter from the company.

Project manager Chris Wild writes KGHM Ajax has "fully honoured our commitment by providing 300 thousand dollars to the City with no strings attached."

Earlier this month, council asked for an additional 200 thousand dollars to cover additional costs associated to the review.
