University students will come up with all kinds of ways to save money. But for one TRU student, eating macaroni wasn't enough. He's decide to live off the grid... in a yurt. We'll get a tour.

Being a student is expensive.There's tuition, books, foodand of course, housing.Well, a Thompson Rivers University student has cut down his costs considerably.

He's built his own home.And for the duration of his degree he'll be living...in a yurt.That's right, a yurt.It's a huge round, traditional Mongolian tent.

Daybreak's Tara Copeland went for a tour with TRU student Michael Jeffrey.
