Ramping up from diaster - workers at Mt. Polley are called back

The Mount Polley Mine is gearing up for 24/7 production even though they don't have provincial approval to operate at full capacity.

The Mount Polley mine east of Williams Lake - site of a disastrous tailings pond breach - will be back to full production for the next few months.

With winter coming, the mine is gearing up for 24-hour-a-day production.

But in the wake of its tailings breach, the provincial permit allows the mine to operate at only 50 per cent capacity.

So, how are they going to 24-7 production?

To explain, Daybreak reached Steve Robertson, Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Imperial Metals, the company that owns Mount Polley.
