A 33-year-old man from Waterloo region died aftera crash that happened on the 401 highway near Kingston.

The man was identified asChengYuan. In the passenger seat wasMeiyuLi, a 27-year-old woman from Burnaby,B.C., who was also found dead.

Yuan was driving a small S.U.V. on Friday, when he drove off the roadway and collided with the steel guardrail, causing his vehicle to flip back onto the roadway.

"It stopped almost parallel on the highway," said OPP Const.RoopSandhu.

The tractor trailer that was driving behind Cheng's vehicle collided with it, Sandhusaid.

"We believe fatigue was a factor because the driver had veered off the roadway, which is consistent with somebody not paying attention or being able to maintain their lane," he told CBC News.

The accident happened east of the OdessaONroute, fourkilometres west of Kingston. Officers arrived on scene at approximately 4:15 a.m. to find the two people dead, according to OPP.

Sandhu said both Yuan and Li had relatives coming from China, who have been notified of their death.

"Working with theRCMPand the Chinese Consulate, we were able to get in contact with the family members," he said.

The OPP is reminding thepublic to not drive while tired.

"If you feel tired, just stop and get some rest. Make sure you travel on the roadway when you're well-rested," he said.
