5 more Uber drivers charged in Guelph
Guelph police charged five people for operating in the city asUber driverson Saturday.
The drivers were charged under a little-used section of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, forproviding transportation for compensation without authority. Currently only licensed taxi drivers who work one of three authorized taxi companies are allowed to operate in Guelph.
It is, however,the second time Guelph police have charged an Uberdriver with the offence in the past two weeks. A 50-year-old man was charged on September 12.
Police did not provide any other information about the drivers charged on Saturday but theywill have to appear in court at the end of October.
