Loud music leads to sledgehammer in the face for Arthur man

A 57-year-old Arthur man is charged with assault with a weapon after allegedly hitting his neighbour in the face with a sledgehammer over a noise dispute.

A 57-year-old Arthur man is charged with assault with a weapon after hitting his neighbour in the face with a sledgehammer over a noise dispute.

Provincial police have charged a 57-year-old man after he allegedly hit his neighbour in the face with a sledgehammer during a dispute over noise.

The OPP says the incident happened on Saturday evening, at a multi-unit townhouse complex on Tucker St. in the town of Arthur, about a 40-minute drivenorth of Guelph.

A 40-year-old was sitting in his screened-in porch talking with some friends and listening to music, when his next door neighbour started banging on the wall several times in regards to the noise.

Police say the 40-year-old then went over to his neighbour's home and after a brief conversation, was struck in the face with a sledgehammer.

The 40-year-old man was rushed to hospital so he could be treated for his injuries, while the neighbour was taken into custody by provincial police.

Officers charged the neighbour, a 57-year-old Arthur man, with assault with a weapon in connection with the incident.
