'Amazing!' Photographer captures aurora borealis in Conestogo

The northern lights made an appearance in Waterloo region Thursday night and Della VanDokkumburg-Stroobosscher was able to snap a few photos.

She had just checked online and noticed the aurora borealis was at "storm level" on a tracking website.

"[I] popped my head out the back door and saw stars, so I went down the road to the golf course I have a go-to place and there it was," VanDokkumburg-Stroobosscher told CBC K-W when she shared the photos through our Facebook page.

"For a brief few moments you could see some green with the naked eye; what's more, if you looked closely you could see the streaks as the aurora danced. Amazing!"

She took the photos between 9:23 p.m. and 9:38 p.m. in Conestogo beside the Grand River.

"It's always fun to try to capture the aurora. It can be quite elusive around here," she said.
