The Better Business Bureau is warning people in Kitchener and Toronto about a suspected scam involving three repair companies they say are duping unsuspecting customers.

Since the beginning of 2018, the BBBhas received over 200 complaints about Appliance Repair Guys, Appliance Repairman and Appliance Repair Team, three businesses all registered to the same address in Concord, Ont.

According to the BBB, customers were told that a service call would cost $80, an amount that then increased to $300 once the service technician arrived. They also reported that once the work began, the repair itself would quickly escalate in price.

The BBB said that customers reported repairs done were ineffective, and the appliance they called about was still not working.

The BBB saidthey have attempted to contact the company, but they "appear to be unwilling to participate in [their] process."
