Kitchener's Burmese python mystery comes to an end: Snake is at home, says humane society

After two weeks of uncertainty, the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society says a snake believed to be on the loose in the Mill Street and Courtland Area of Kitchener has been found.

And, it may not have been missing at all in the first place.

"The City of Kitchener assisted the Humane Society last evening by sending out a City of Kitchener bylaw officer who paid a visit to the home confirming the snake was inside," saiddirector of operationsKathyInnocentesaid in an email on Friday morning.

The humane society was tipped off to the snake's possible escape on July 26 aftera concerned citizen contacted theoffice to say they believed a neighbour's snake had gone missing.

The next day, the humane society said it spoke with someone at the home, who confirmed the snake was missing.

It's unclear if the snake was ever missing from the home, or if it was simply missing from its enclosure.
