Cambridge PC nomination vote postponed again

The nomination meeting for the Cambridge Ontario Progressive Conservatives has been postponed again, which has frustrated at least one of the candidates running to be the party's representative.

Riding president Rob Leone said they have not been given a reason for the postponement, and that the change in date was mandated by the party's provincial leadership.

LilloOgnibene, who is handling media requests for the riding, said no new date has been set.

The party did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The riding had announced earlier this month the nomination meeting would be held on March 24. Anyone who was interested was to have filed paperwork by March 9.

'110 per cent frustrating'

Riding officials said three candidates filed paperwork before the March 9 deadline to run for the nomination: Sunny Attwal, Bert Laranjo and PC party leadership hopeful Tanya GranicAllen.

"It's 110 per cent frustrating, but truth be told, I don't know what's going on," Attwalsaid Friday of the nomination meeting being postponed. "All of a sudden, we got an email saying the nomination [meeting] was cancelled. So I don't have answers, the membership wants answers."

It's the second time the meeting has been moved. Last fall, the date of the meeting was moved up fromNovember to Oct. 4, and thenpostponed.

"And then for about five, six months, getting phone calls, 'Hey Sunny, when's the next nomination meeting,'" Attwal said.

"Everyone was waiting for a date because that's the biggest thing everyone wants to know when can we vote, where can we vote, and now we're back to square one but we don't know why. That's the frustrating part."
