London ridings: Canada Election 2015 results

London and the surrounding area is made up of four ridings, London North Centre, London West, London-Fanshawe and Elgin-Middlesex-London. Of those ridings, three were held by the Conservatives when Parliament dissolved. The fourth was held by the NDP.

Here's a breakdown of each riding.


London North Centre

Liberal candidate Peter Fragiskatoshas won the riding ofLondon North Centre, with 50.4 per cent of the popular vote.

With 75per cent of polls reporting, Fragiskatosdefeatedincumbent Susan Truppe, the Conservative MP who held the riding since2011. Truppe had 30.5 per cent of the popular vote, while NDP candidate German Gutierrez had 15 per cent.

London North Centre encompasses the city's downtown core and Western University and is home to some of the more affluent parts of London.

The ridinghadbeen held by a Liberal MP since 1997, when a vote-split in 2011 between the Liberals and the NDPsawConservative incumbent Susan Truppetake the seat. Truppe was elected with 36.9 per centof the vote.

Candidates in 2015:

Conservative: Susan Truppe,has been the MPsince 2011.
NDP:GermanGutierrez is aprofessor at Fanshawe College's School of Language and Liberal Studies.
Liberal: PeterFragiskatos is apolitical scientist at King's University College, an affiliate of Western University.
Green:CarolDyckworks as a freelance environmental consultant.


London West

Liberal candidate Kate Young has won the riding ofLondon West,, with 46.1 per cent of the popular vote.

With 80 per cent of polls reporting,Fragiskatos beatincumbent Ed Holder, the Conservative MP who has held the riding since2008.Holder had34per cent of the popular vote, while NDP candidate Matthew Rowlinson had 15.2 per cent.

Thisridingcontains the western part of the city of London andstretches from the city's limits in the north and west to Dingman Creek, Southdale Road West, Wharncliffe Road South and Commissioners Road East in the south and Wonderland Road North, Oxford Street West, Wharncliffe Road North, the Thames River and the CN Rail line in the east.

The riding has been held by Conservative Ed Holder since 2008. In 2011 he was elected with 44.5 per cent of the vote.

Conservative: Ed Holder, MP since 2008.
NDP:MatthewRowlinsonis an English professor at Western University.
Liberal:KateYoung was a television news anchor and journalist at CTV London.
Green:DimitriLascaris is a lawyer.


London-Fanshawe

NDP candidateIrene Mathyssenhas been re-elected in the riding ofLondon-Fanshawe.

With over 60 per cent of polls reporting,Mathyssen willreturn to herseat in Parliament, which she won in the 2006 federal election.

Mathyssenhad38.1 per cent of the popular vote to Liberal candidate Khalil Ramal's30.4 per cent. Conservative Candidate Suzanna Dielemanhad 27.8 per cent of the popular vote.

This London-area riding takes in a broad mix of workplaces and neighbourhoods, from some rural communities, to the student-rich area surroundingFanshawe College.

This is the city's only riding not held by a Conservative. NDP candidate IreneMathyssenhas been the MP for London-Fanshawesince 2006, when she became the first NDP to hold a seat in the city. She was re-elected in 2011 with 50.8 per cent of the vote.

Conservative:SuzannaDieleman has worked in municipal finance for 20 years.
NDP: Irene Mathyssenhas been the MP since 2006.
Liberal:KhalilRamalwas a Liberal MPP in London-Fanshawe from2003 to 2011.
Green:MatthewPelozais a chartered accountant.


Elgin-Middlesex-London

Conservative Karen Vecchiohas won the riding of Elgin-Middlesex-London, taking just under 50 per cent of the vote. Liberal Lori Baldwin-Sands won 31 per cent, and NDP candidate took 15 per cent of the ballots.

Elgin-Middlesex-London is composed of much of the rural area surrounding London. The ridingborders Lake Erie in the south and takes in parts of Elgin and Middlesex counties.

The riding was held by Conservative Joe Preston who was re-elected for his fourth termin 2011 with 57.3 per cent of the vote. He announced his retirement this year, so there is no incumbent in the race.

NDP:FredSinclairis a custom carpenter for hisfamily-owned business.
Liberal:LoriBaldwin-Sands was a municipal politician in St. Thomas.
Green:Bronagh JoyceMorgan is self-employed and a long-time Green Party candidate.
