Wellington-Halton Hills riding: Conservative Michael Chong re-elected

Conservative Michael Chong has been re-elected as the MP for Wellington-Halton Hills with 51.1 per cent of the popular vote.

Conservative incumbentMichael Chonghas been re-elected inWellington-Halton Hillswith 51.1per cent of the popular vote. With over 90per cent of polls reporting,Liberal candidate Don Trantstands in second with36.3per cent of the popular vote.Anne Gajerski-Cauley of the NDP isthird with8.3per cent.

The Wellington-Halton Hills ridingincludes the towns of Erin and Halton Hills, as well as theWellington County townships of Centre Wellington, Guelph/Eramosa and Puslinch. Its boundaries have shifted slightly in this election,with some portions allocated to Kitchener-Conestoga and Guelphin the 2015 federal election.

Conservative MPMichael Chong is the incumbent in the riding. Chong was first elected in 2004 withmore than 63% of the vote. Chong is known for introducing theReform Act, a controversial bill that aimed torejjig the balance ofpower between MPs and party leaders. The Senate passed that billin June2015.
