Toddler death in Cambridge under investigation by WRPS

Waterloo regional police are investigating after a one-year-old boy was found unresponsive at a Cambridge home this week. The boy was taken to hospital and was later pronounced dead, police said Friday.

Waterloo Regional Police (WRPS) are investigating after a one-year-old boy was found unresponsive at a Cambridge home this week. The boy was taken to hospital and was later pronounced dead, police said in a release Friday.

First responders were called to a home on Boyton Lane in Cambridge just after 2 p.m. Tuesday following a reported medical incident involving the one-year-old. When they arrived at the home, the child was found unresponsive. He was taken to hospital and later pronounced dead, police said.

The regional police major crime unit is now investigating in conjunction with the provincial coroner's office. The major crime unit is mandated to investigate all deaths of children under five years old , police said.
