Death investigation closes road in Guelph's east end

OPP are investigating a death on Watson Parkway in Guelph. The road is closed between Speedvale Avenue E. and Wellington Road 124 and motorists are being asked to stay away from the area.

A death investigation is underway on a road in Guelph's east end and motorists are being asked to avoid the area.

The Ontario Provincial Police closed Watson Parkway between Speedvale Avenue E. and Wellington Road 124 on Tuesday.

Officers were called to the area just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday after receiving reports a passerby had seen thebody of a deceased male along the roadway.

Police say a post-mortem is scheduled for Thursday in Toronto to determine how the unidentified maledied.

"While the investigation is in the preliminary stages, police want to remind members of the public to always be aware of their surroundings and personal safety," OPP said Wednesday afternoon.

The stretch of roadway where the male's body was located is rural and there are no streetlights in the area.

Police said the crime unit and forensic identification services are on scene. Officers remained on scene on Wednesday.
