'Demeaning' message sprayed on a bed sheet during Laurier homecoming
University says message was offensive and doesn't reflect Laurier's values or expectations"
WilfridLaurierUniversity will be speaking with students after a sign was hung from a home during homecoming celebrations that read: "She called you daddy 4 18 years. Now it's our turn."
The words werespray painted on a white bedsheet, It was tweeted from the account @j_hrivnak.
Saw this on Regina St. in Waterloo. This is disgusting and unacceptable. Guy appears to be a @Laurier student. Can the @WRPSToday do something about this? pic.twitter.com/BjkFmVkbea

Waterloo regional police said the sign contained a"demeaning and disturbing message." Officers attended the home Saturday afternoon to tell the people inside to take it down.
In a tweet, the university wrote the sign was "extremely offensive and doesn't reflect Laurier's values or expectations."
The sign caused outrage on Twitter from some.
A sign on Regina St. in Waterloo yesterday, making visible a culture of toxic masculinity which is often more subtle, but just as dangerous. University-aged women are 4x more likely to be sexually assaulted than any other age group. Let's teach our sons better! @MaleAllies pic.twitter.com/aQrLFbi1vW

Doesnt matter if its @Laurier or any other homecoming at a Canadian university, these signs always surface, how can universities be proactive in the education of why these are offensive? #LaurierHomecoming pic.twitter.com/Dyq7gvIlHm

What concerns me more is that these young men will continue to think and act in this manner long after the signs are taken down. Hidden or showcased on a big white sheet, misogyny & rape culture are alive and well in 2018. Shameful #hoco2018 #LaurierHomecoming #BeBetter

The sign posted near our Waterloo campus was extremely offensive & doesnt reflect #Lauriers values or expectations. Special Constables talked to Laurier & non-Laurier residents of house. Laurier students will have incident reviewed under Non-Academic Student Code of Conduct.

Ezra Avenue was shut down for several hours while party-goersspilled out on the street.
Emergency crews also had to be called after at least two people were seen sitting on top of a highrise building at the corner of King Street and Ezra Avenue.
Emergency crews had to be called in to rescue these individuals who decided to hang off the top of a highrise building at the corner of Ezra Avenue and King Street in Waterloo. Drain on resources and extreme safety concern. Be smart. Show respect. Stay safe. pic.twitter.com/EJ6pVIN0Bh

Ezra Avenue is now open. Crowds have dispersed. If continuing to celebrate, please do so in a safe and respectful manner. If heading out tonight, ensure you have a safe ride home. Our R.I.D.E programs will be set up throughout @RegionWaterloo. pic.twitter.com/ZZl6uJbutZ
