Two drivers charged after two Guelph Transit buses hit in two days

In two days, there have been two collisions involving Guelph Transit buses.

Guelph Police reported on Sunday at 12:15 p.m., a red Nissan was being driven south on Norfolk Street, when it went through a red light and struck a bus going east on Waterloo Avenue.

A 90-year-old passenger inside the Nissan was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Nissan and the four occupants on the bus were not injured.

Damage to the two vehicles is estimated at $12,000, police said. A 69-year-old man has been charged with failing to stop at a red lightunder the Highway Traffic Act.

Then on Monday around 8:30 a.m., police reported another transit bus was involved in a collision in the downtown core at Woolwich and Wyndham streets.

Police said the bus was stopped at a red light when a vehicle tried to squeeze around it, but hit the bus. There was minor damage and no injures. The driver was charged with careless driving.
